I am a genious!!!! Last night mommy once again kicked autism in it's big fat a$$! DS1 got an intestinal infection after taking an antibiotic. After 10 days on another med we were still having issues. Take him back into the doctor and get a nurse practitioner. She said it is expected tht he would still have issues after the med (why was this not told to me at the time the med was dispensed I do not know). She said to give him 2 TBSP Miralax in apple sauce to help soak up the liquid in his intestines. I laughed and said "yeah that isn't going to happen with his oral sensativities". Everything she told me to mix it with is a no go. She finally said no more than 2 oz of water. This still scared me as it would be very thick and he would not even attempt to drink.

We stopped at the grocery store on the way home. Carl picked up a package of cupcakes and tipped them over causing the frosting to stick to the top of the package. So, cupcakes had to come home with us. Then it hit me. Mix the Miralax in with the frosting and let him eat the cupcake. I needed more frosting to mix in the Miralax but I had a can at home. It was a sucess! I removed the store frosting and added my own Miralax frosting mix and spoon fed him the whole thing. It was a lot more frosting than on a normal cupcake but I got the Miralax in him without gaging/puking it up all over me!! Oh the relief of not having to fight. I didn't get hit once. I didn't get kicked once. I just sat there spoon feeding him a cupcake as he chowed down. It was fantastic!:yay:

I think I will always have a can of frosting in the house from here on out!

That's great!!! And I can totally relate to how wonderful it is to get medicine into your kid without getting hit or kicked or thrown up on in the process!

This post means a lot to me. It is wonderful to hear how it was a good situation because you didn't have to fight, get kicked or hit. I know this feeling. I just don't think people in general realize the everyday struggles.
