I am leading an activity tomorrow for a small group of kids (ages 4-7) and need 2-3 action songs (any song that requires following the sung directions- think "if you're happy and you know it" for bigger kids). But, I don't want cheesy sounding songs- something fun and hip. Any ideas? PLEASE! :)

Macarena? Electric Slide?

ETA: Sorry, maybe not. I was thinking older kids than 4-7...

When I worked with Middle School aged kids we did lots of "repeat after me songs" on the first day. A few favorites were Princess Pat, Boom-chica-boom (and all the funny variations), Flea!Flea fly!. Bazooka bubble gum was always a favorite. We also did songs that came with hand motions like Baby shark, Little Bunny Foo-Foo, Alligator, and Little Cabin in the Woods. Most of the songs I mentioned can be found in this song guide (http://www.ymcaoftheozarks.org/files/CampSongBook1984.pdf) and probably on YouTube to hear the tune. ETA: Maybe those aren't action enough. Maybe Cotton Eye Joe as a line dance song
