ISO Flat Front Black Dress Pants

I keep striking out so I need some help.

I am a SAHM who rarely has a need to dress up. As I browsed my closet looking for something to wear to my son's school gala next week I realized I am in trouble! It's not a black tie gala or anything, just a dressy casino night.

I have a couple of cute dressy tops that I can wear with black dress pants. The problem I have is the pants. I have none. I ordered a pair from Macy's that got good reviews but they just aren't quite right.

I am looking for something with the least amount of "stuff" on the front, i.e. buttons, belt loops, pockets, etc. The smoother the better!!

If you have some pants you can recommend I'd be grateful. Thank you!

I would try Talbot's or Ann Taylor.

What kind of body do you have?

I am curvy, with a belly, and petite. Recently I found Talbots' curvy pants to fit me well. I am in fact ordering a couple more.

The places that came to mind is Nordstrom (Halogen brand), Ann Taylor, Loft, Gap.

I love my Ann Taylor black pants. I have several pairs, all flat front. My favorite are the slim legs.

I also have a pair of Theory black pants that I totally love. Found mine on sale at Loehmann's but Nordstrom carries Theory too.

I am loving my banana republic Sloan fit flares. It is the "power stretch" fabric and it is so comfortable. Reviews say there is a ton of shrinkage after dry cleaning though. I haven't washed mine yet. The cut is very flattering.

Of course, what will flatter depends on your body type. I am petite and not particularly curvy, so what works for me might not be ideal for everyone.

Ditto, exactly! Mine have slowly shrunk over the past few months but are fine, I just wear them with flats now. So fantastic and comfortable.

Wow! Thanks everybody!! It's so nice to get recommendations from real people. I was starting to feel like my options were shrinking but you guys definitely gave me some things to look at.

I think I'm going to have to suck it up and go to the mall this weekend since everything you guys recommended is available there, except for a couple of styles that look like they are online only.

I'll report back with what I decide on (and hopefully it will be "decide on" and not "settle for"!!).

Express Editor and White House Black market are my favorites. The gap perfect trousers stretch out a whole size bigger by the end of the day (for me).
