We have a cheap 2-waffle waffle maker from Walmart. I purposely did NOT want a Belgian waffle maker so I could possibly use the waffles as bread. We do not use the waffles in this manner but the waffle maker is fine for our use as we only make them about 2x month as a special weekend treat.

I'll spam you with our favorite Paleo recipes from one of my favorite Paleo sites, Paleomg.com: http://paleomg.com/?s=almond+flour+waffles&x=0&y=0
Most of these are holy cow paleo-ifed food porn but thought I'd add... :) My kids' faves are the almond coconut waffles and the pumpkin waffles. Have fun!!

ETA: Before we started eating paleo, my favorite waffle/pancake/muffin mix was Trader Joe's Multigrain Baking Mix in the black/ tan box. Loved it!!! When we moved away from TJ's, I would buy 15-20 boxes at a time. Never got the # right bc we would always run out well before the expiration date or our next trip. Actually...same goes for their wine. Always run out welllll before our next trip. Yum.

We have this one and love it. Got it as a Christmas gift a about 5-6 years ago. Makes perfect belgian waffles, slightly crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. We just used it the other night, with strawberries and whipped cream on top of the waffles. yum!

eta, we use the basic waffle recipe from our Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. Comes out perfect everytime. Not near the recipe book right now, but if you want it let me know.

We have this one and LOVE it. It is a breeze to make and clean. Give it a quick wipe down and it's done. No sticking. I stumbled on it at a resale shop for $14. Full price would of hurt but it does make it really easy and I love the fact it makes two full sized waffles at once. With 5 plus that helps a lot. Waffles are done in about 1.2 minutes.

I picked this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000DDVWV/ref=gno_cart_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER up during the Christmas shopping season. We used it weekly and LOVED it until last Sautrday morning when it slipped out of my hands and broke. :(. Luckily it was after we finished eating, but the kids were really upset when they didn't get their weekly waffle fix this morning.

This is the waffle recipe we use.

I have the Cuisinart classic round waffle maker, based on recommendations from this board. I love it! Works really well and stores compactly. Only $30 on Amazon too. For recipes, I've used two from allrecipes.com that I like. Just look for the ones with tons of positive reviews.

We use this brand but the non-Belgian version. It's been great for our weekly gluten-free waffles. Nice and crisp without ever burning. I slice bananas over mine, yum.
If I remember correctly, this is the brand recommended by America's Test Kitchen.

We use a Krups waffle maker, I've had it for years, and works fine. I buy the Krusteaz mix at Costco and add 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1/4 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp vanilla per cup of dry mix to make cinnamon brown sugar waffles.

We have two, a regular, and a Belgian, but we never use the Belgian one.

Black and Decker Waffle Iron (http://mobile.walmart.com/m/phoenix;jsessionid=65995350C0541B79B125E4FEBEC5298 C#ip/Black-Decker-3-in-1-Waffle-Maker-Indoor-Grill-Griddle-G48TD/2684038)

We got this one for my bridal shower from my mom so we have had it 10 yrs. now and use it fairly often. We use the waffle recipe from Better Homes & Garden cookbook binder.

The Belgian waffler is this one (have had it for about 8 yrs.)
Krups Belgian 4 slice waffle maker (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00004SPEG)

Wheb I have used it I have used the Trader Joe's All Purpose Baking Mix.

We have the Waring Pro waffle maker, bought it at Costco. We love it usually and make waffles once a week or so. We've been really happy with it.

We use either Aunt Jemima pancake mix or Krusteaz pancake mix for our waffles. I think the Krusteez has less icky weird stuff in it, though we use the Aunt Jemima water and oil amounts because we didn't like the texture when we followed the directions on the Krusteez package.

Another vote for the Cuisenart waffle maker...also based on recommendations from this board.

My absolute favorite recipe is this whole grain waffle recipe. I don't usually like the taste of whole grain stuff but these are delicious. I make a double batch once a week and freeze and the kids eat them every day for breakfast or snack.

We use the TJs pumpkin waffle mix. We stock up. Dh declared that he needed more because we were down to 4 boxes! :ROTFLMAO:

We have added flax and protein powders to it and it still tastes good.

Absolutely delicious waffles from scratch is the Waffles of insane greatness (http://food52.com/blog/2412-aretha-frankenstein-s-waffles-of-insane-greatness)recipe which uses cornstarch.

I got the All-Clad 4 waffle Belgian waffle maker as a Christmas gift (good sale, but definitely a splurge!). It's pretty fabulous. :)

This mix is supposedly the same as WS golden malted waffle mix and what WDW uses for Mickey waffles. Not health food, but darn tasty!

We have the same Presto FlipSide as larig and love it! Makes great waffles, and I love that it locks upright for storage.

If we have our act together enough to prep batter the night before, we like to make this Mark Bittman recipe (but I use 1 cup "regular" flour + 1 cup whole wheat flour and half the butter):

http://www.bigoven.com/recipe/161156/overnight-waffles

Otherwise, we like the Stonewall Kitchen Farmhouse Pancake and Waffle Mix.

Maybe it's just me, but I think the flipping makes a difference in the lightness--both top and bottom get coated and crispy. And the locking to store upright is a great, space-saving design touch.

Bumping this because I bought a new waffle maker yesterday after I broke our Chef's Choice. I ended up getting the Presto FlipSide that santoki and larig have. I used the same waffle recipe that I have been using (Waffle of insane greatness) but I had to double it because our previous maker used 1/2 cup of mix per waffle And this one uses 1 cup. I also substitute 1/3 of the flour with whole wheat flour, and I whisked the egg whites separately and folded them into the rest of the mix. It is a very simple waffle maker with no temp adjust and a battery operated timer, but it made AMAZING waffles. They were crispy in the outside and fluffy on the inside. I set the timer for 4 minutes and THEN put the mix into the waffle iron. After about 15 seconds I flipped it over and left it until the timer went off. FYI, I have a plastic pickle fork that it perfect for getting the waffles out. I you're looking for a great waffle maker for THICK Belgian waffles, I highly recommend this one. It locks upright for storage too.

Zukeypur, your description is right on the money! I wanted thick hotel-fancy-brunch-style waffles and that maker really delivers. I'll have to give that recipe a whirl!
