Dd has always been small, but proportions have always worked out. She is now 10 and is about a size 7, but umm, she is developing a bit of a figure and pants are now too tight for her. Actually the 7s may be very slightly on the short size as well, but 8s are huge length wise.

What is the easiest way for me to deal with this? Are there any pants that run slightly larger across the hips, etc? Or, I have read some articles about using hem tape, etc. Anyone know the best way to do that? Or do I just need to learn to sew and if so how? (I don't own a sewing machine).

I haven't tried it yet, but I've had this sitting in my Amazon cart for awhile -- I think it was recommended by someone on here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CE8JPQ/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_9?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Lots of places carry adjustable waist pants in plus sizes. Lands End, JCPenney, Target, Justice (which kinda makes me twitch but they carry in store), TCP... My daughter isn't overweight but has a bit of a curve already which some little girls pants just don't accomodate and the plus version works better. Especially in skinny jeans!

And this is a great, EASY hemming tutorial. :) http://refashionmama.wordpress.com/2011/12/17/alteration-my-new-favorite-way-to-keep-original-hem-on-jeans/
