View Full Version : I'm on strike!

Dh hurt his back (by trying to lift a tv by himself) the first day we started moving so he has been unable to unpack or do anything to help
me. Including lift empty boxing. So I've been doing it all myself. And since he's on pain killers he can't supervise the kids much while I unpack.

I can live with that. It's hard but I got someone to help me unpack. But what I cannot stand is DH walking around complaining that the house is a mess, that I'm not unpacking fast enough and that he can't find anything. No words of thanks, no apologies that he can't help more, nothing. So I quit. I'm not unpacking anymore and I told him so. If he is not happy with how I'm unpacking and organizing, he should do it himself or hire someone to unpack and organize.

I'm on strike. And I'm going out to lunch with a girlfriend. And maybe I'm getting a pedicure. I've been packing and now unpacking for over 2 weeks. I deserve a break. And when he's ready to say the magic words ( I'm sorry and thank you for all the hard work), I'll start unpacking again.

Go you! Enjoy your strike, and I say milk it for all it's worth. You are long overdue, imo.

Good for you! I walked out of my house last Sunday. I couldn't take it anymore and needed to leave. It was liberating and worked wonders.

Enjoy your lunch and pedicure. Be sure to get some shopping in too afterwards. Cute sandals for summer to go with the new toes?

eta: how is he walking around if he hurt his back that badly??

Sounds entirely reasonable to me!

We moved Dec 21 and I still haven't unpacked all the boxes. Dh was deep in trial prep and said he wasn't going to be ale to help much. I told dh upfront that I wasn't killing myself to unpack andit would get done when it gets done. He hasn't had the nerve to complain though I'm sure he wishes it were all done.

Love it!! Enjoy your day, you definitely deserve it.

I hope your DH comes around soon. Clearly the meds are clouding his thinking.

Good for you!

What the heck is he taking for a pulled muscle where he can't supervise the kids because of it?

Good for you. I think you also need a massage (for your sore muscles) and once the unpacking is finally over, you need a maid service to tidy up.

Right now seems the time to hire a professional organizer to unpack get your new home started right.

I agree. Lunch, pedicure and a massage is what you need.

Sounds like you deserve more than lunch and a pedicure. Get the whole package- massage, facial, even waxing. You've totally earned it!

Oh and if he complains that you went to pamper yourself, just explain that if you hadn't gotten a massage, your back would've given out and then there would've been TWO useless adults in the house.

And as someone who moves pretty much every other year, expecting to be done right away is unreasonable. I'm REALLY good at it and it still takes me a few months!
