Can I wear brown and Grey?

I love this dress- I really wanted it in the blue but it is sold out so I'm settling on the pewter-

I wanted the blue so I could wear my new boots (!) with it- but they are brown- can I still wear these with the pewter or no?

the model has a blue scarf with the pewter- so I think brown boots could work, but I've always heard that you can't pair these colors?

I think so, because they are both neutrals. According to Clinton and Stacey, you can mix neutrals. ;)
