I want to replace our old polycarbonate ones that I pretty much stopped using after the BPA scare. I am looking for pantry storage containers that are:

stainless steel or glass (tempered?)
airtight (don't want to deal with pantry moths like my friends have - ugh)
rectangular or square, ideally stacking, to maximize space
ideally different sizes
has a window so we can easily see the contents

The main thing is it must be airtight and a quality product.

We have Elfa shelving.. I use those famous multipurpose bins for packets, etc.. but this is for storing grains, lentils, etc..

Any ideas?

ETA: I'm finding it difficult to find anything like this so I might have to make do with glass (I was concerned about breakage).

Oh man, I fell in love with the simplehuman slim canisters, but they have a plastic insert :( Darn it!

Would mason jars work in a pinch?

Have you looked at the OXO Pop Containers? I bought a set from TJ Maxx probably a year ago and LOVE them: http://www.oxo.com/p-435-5-piece-pop-container-set.aspx

Lightweight, easy to wash (the lid disassembles into 4 pieces), easy to stack, and super easy to see when you're running low on something. They're BPA free.

Thanks all! I looked at all those options. The mason jars are inexpensive, which was nice. If the OXO set was S/S it would have been perfect!!

Well, I found OXO PressTop S/S containers on clearance at drugstore.com!

I went through ebates for an additional 12% off and I earned $16 in drugstore dollars since I bought so many. :jammin:

The online reviews are really good - they don't have a window, but I'll live with it (I have a label maker!) and they are round, but I read that it's hard to get a good seal on square or rectangular containers - that might pertain to S/S. I'm excited to clear out my old containers now!

Oh, report back, those look really nice. I have one of the clear plastic ones but I use it for laundry detergent (which works great, much easier than the giant box of Tide).

I use those containers for flour, sugar etc and they are great.

I have these Anchor hocking jars that I bought at my local kroger equivalent. Some have glass lids and others have steel lids with a gasket. I have had them forever.

I also have some of these from Ikea, also Bpa free. Ikea has glass jars too.

I've been looking forever for containers like this so I can get rid of my plastic ones but I've yet to find anything in the sizes and shape I need. I also want something square and stackable and large enough to hold a decent sized bag of flour. I'll be watching to see if anyone finds anything else...

I'm annoyed. Drugstore.com cancelled the 3.3 quart order but sent a few of the smaller 2.2 quart ones. They look good, though, and I think they will do for most things so now I wish I had ordered more of those! I will update after using them.

Oh no I feel guilty. I ordered after you and got two of the big ones. :(

Looks like these may be slightly different than a PP linked. I *think* these are the ones I've had forever, and like.
