I'm thinking about jumping on the refurb deal but I noticed that there will be a vitamix showing at costco at the end of the month. I am just wondering what the price will be there.

at Costco around here the 5200 is $379 and the 6300 is $499. Both came with the tall (64 oz) containers.

they also sell the 48oz short wet container separately, as well as the 32 oz dry container for $99 each.

I think it's usually around
$379 for the small container (this is usually stocked at Costco)
$399 for the larger container

We have the larger jarred one and could not live with the smaller one. We already need to do multiple batches of soups and smoothies for our family of 4. The downside is the larger one does not fit under the counter on the base.

Hope that helps!

Also, in costco.com, you can get the 5200 with 2 jars (dry and wet) for $499, just in case that's more suitable for your need.

Too many choices!

How do I decide which one I "need?"

The Vitamix I bought at Coscto a few years ago had a card inside when you registered to buy a dry mix container (different blade) or smaller wet container for $50 extra. I laughed at it with my husband how we so didn't need it and never bought it. I regretted it later when we started grinding brown rice for rice cereal, etc. Not sure if that is still offered but you may be able to call Vitamix and ask.

I like to buy expensive purchases from places that have a great return policy. I know it has a 10 year warranty but I like knowing I can return it at any time to Costco without a problem.

A vitamix is much more than a regular blender. But I can't imagine the features you get with the $500 Vitamix (such as a 'smoothies' setting) are worth $125 more than what you get from the less expensive vitamix.

I'd measure under your counters. Ours does fit under the counter with the tall container attached. I've never missed the short container, but I'd probably feel differently if it didn't fit.

Take a look at the reconditioned ones on the Vitamix website. The top of the line ones are only $20 more than the ones sold at Costco. It has the new, quieter motor. It also has the shorter, wider 64 oz container that fits under the cabinets. The one I ordered should be here Tuesday! Do a search on google because there's also a free ship code floating around. I purchased a refurbished Kitchen Aid stand mixer 13 years ago and it's still running strong!

I just put my container next to the base to make it fit under cabinets.
