DH and I have been trying to have #2 for some time now (1year). We have done 2 semen analysis and on both, his pH was a bit high and morphology was less than 15%. Otherwise things are good. The Gyn ran a bunch of stuff on me and said things looked good. So she said last time to see a urologist, and there is a great one in town who deals with male fertility issues, this semen analysis she said to see a fertililty specialist.

What are the pros and cons of each. DD was the one shot wonder:jammin:.

Tell me what you think. Which way should we go. Is it wasting money to see the fert person, are they going to just refer us to the urologist anyway?

I don't know which type of specialist would be the right way to go but I remember reading that CoQ10 is supposed to help with sperm. Here I found this article ... looks like it's good for eggs and sperm!

At my fertility clinic, the RE ordered tests for DH. If any problems had shown up, she would have referred him to a urologist within the practice. So I would guess you should start with an RE.

What is your age? If you are 35 or older, I would go to a reproductive endocrinologist. Most regular OB/GYN's don't do as thorough testing as is really needed.

I would probably try to set up appointments with both. The RE is possibly going to send you to a urologist anyway to see if there is anything they can fix, but if they want to do IUI or anything like that, you are still going to need to be seeing an RE for that. It can take awhile to get into a good RE at least in our area (1-2 months at the minimum), so I would probably try to make appointments with both to really cover your bases. (And all RE's are not created equal, I went to 3 different ones before I found the one I really liked, I got pregnant the first cycle.)

Yeah I'd go see a RE. Unless you are under 33-35 and not in any rush etc.

Okay, we are not under 35. I will call both tomorrow and make appts, that way we can see which we get to first.

You might ask the RE's office if there is a urologist in particular they refer people to so they are on the same page if ou have to work with both.
