DD turns 3 next month and wants a bike for her birthday. She is tall for her age and seems to be OK on a 12" bike (we had her try a few at TRU to see if she would be able to ride them).

I have narrowed it down to three:

1. Trek Mystic: http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/collections/kids/mystic_12/#
2. Specialized Hotrock: http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bikes/kids/hotrockgirls/hotrock12coastergirls
3. Novara Firefly (REI): http://www.rei.com/product/843755/novara-firefly-12-girls-bike-2013

DS (5, very tall) has a 20" Specialized that he got when he was 4 and it works great for him. So, the original plan was to get her a Specialized as well. However, the Trek is so cute, which got me thinking...

Has anyone compared these bikes? Which would your recommend from a usability POV? Is there a significant difference in weight between them? Or in how adjustable they are (seat height, other factor)? What else should I consider? TIA!

Specialized is the lightest one of three. That makes it easier for a new rider. Plus, Specialized's pedals come off very easily, for better balance bike conversion.
