Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

How long have you had it? The battery may be going bad.

Make sure you're using an iPad charger and not an iPhone charger. Eta: iPad charger is 10 watts and says so in fine print on charger, iPhone is 5.

Happened to my in-laws. Was a problem with the IPad. They went to the Apple store and apple replaced the whole IPad.

We don't have an iPhone. We have been using this same charger with no problems until a day or two ago. Our device is also using up battery life MUCH faster.

Reboot and or switch cords. We had one <finally tossed it> that took for ever to charge things

Ok, I feel really stupid. After a few of you mentioned the cord I doubled checked it. I have been trying to charge ipad using my husbands android plug. Hopefully that didn't cause any issues with ipad. Sorry, thank you.:p

My iPad charger says 5w and I don't have an iphone 5. It also takes forever to charge. I just looked on the apple site though and don't see a 10w one to buy. Should I just take it into the apple store?

^^ is it a Mini? The iPad mini uses a 5w charger. It doesn't come with the 10w. My husband has a 1st gen iPad and had to buy a 10w charger on his own. I'm not sure if they ever started shipping them with it.
