We are thinking of traveling with two other couples and their kids in February 2014. So 6 adults, 6 kids ranging in age from 4 to 8 (then). Thinking maybe 5 nights, somewhere easy access (direct flight) from the Northeast, USA. On a quick search, it seems Mexico (Cancun, Mayan Riviera) might offer the easiest access and cheapest airfare. Punta Cana, DR, might be another option. We thought about renting a private villa but have decided that it would probably be nice to go to a resort where there would be plenty of activities to keep the kids happy. I have never done an all-inclusive before because DH and I tend to like more adventurous vacations where we don't stay in one place, and we like to experience the culture of the locations we are visiting. But with kids, I think I would be willing to try the all-inclusive option. There are just so many choices online that it is overwhelming. I would love to hear some firsthand recommendations. Thanks!
