*TMI* Nipple question

FTM here and I'm 20 weeks and have noticed in the last 3 weeks or so that my nipples have acquired a layer of strange yellow crustiness (gross- sorry :p) right on the tip of the nipple. I can gently peel this stuff away with a fingernail. Is this leaking colostrum? Does it happen this early? I find its on both nipples, one usually a bit more than the other. I haven't noticed any wetness in my bras or anything...

I had the same thing. My midwife said it is normal as your breasts prepare for nursing

Normal here. I just noticed this starting this time around again in the past few days. Do be prepared, because you may very well wind up with wet spots on your shirt in a few weeks. It might be a good time to start carrying some disposable pads in your purse just in case, and a cardigan (to throw on until your shirt dries) in your car. ;)

(I don't think this happens to everyone. I seem to be a super-producer, and my breasts very eagerly gear up for nursing every time!)

yes...happes to me too. but, strangely enough, i never have problems with leaking.

I'm 20 weeks too and have the same thing going on. My nipples are also itchy. I never leaked with my first two pregnancies though.

I had the same thing starting around 16-18 weeks. It itched somewhat, so I would pick it off after I showered.

Thanks ladies!! Good to know others pick at it too, lol. It's just so weird looking. I have to make sure I don't point it out to DH cuz I have a feeling he'll be turned off by that. And that would suck ;). Pardon the pun :D.
