Was thinking of getting DS some stomp rockets for his 3rd birthday. I have seen some options on Amazon and our local toy store has a couple options as well. Is there a particular brand or kind that works the best? Or is best for younger kids?

My DS has these:

http://www.amazon.com/Stomp-Rocket-Jr-Glow-Kit/dp/B00000K3BR/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1364842460&sr=8-1&keywords=stomp+rocket+jr

He loves them and so do I. So easy and very entertaining. They go high enough to be exciting, but not so high that I have to worry where they might come down.

I'm bookmarking as I'd like to get some as gifts (one set for a 4 yr old and one for a 6 yr old). Are these the right ages?

We got Stachio the regular (not JR) stomp rockets last year for his 3rd birthday at the recommendation of many people here. I'm totally fine with the regular ones. Not sure how different the JR ones are....

My sister got them for her 2 yo after DN played with Stachio's at grandma's house. The kids love it. I don't even mind my 18 mo playing with it. He thinks it is hilarious. But we're always outside with them to make sure they don't point it at other kids, etc. Even if they did it probably isn't a problem.

My kiddos love them.

We have those, too. DS1 got them for his 5th birthday, I think. He turns 9 this month. He still plays with them and so does everyone else on the street. I finally opened a refill pack last summer after the neighbor's dog age one!

Wondering if anyone has tried these from Marky Sparky: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009IBD2C/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

We have the Stomp Rockets linked earlier and they are fun, but not really durable (specifically, the tripod is flimsy). I wonder if I should just plan to buy a new set every so often or invest a bit more up front for the Marky Sparky? Reviews look good on amazon, but don't see anything on this board about them.
