We've moved DD1 to her big girl bed, but the box spring/mattress combo is way too high (I think it's higher up than my bed!).
I plopped the mattress w/o box spring on the bed frame, and it's the perfect height for her, but I'm worried if that's okay.....

The bed frame has bed rails on it....at least 10 I think......and it's a full size bed.

Will I harm the mattress if it doesn't have something solid under it? DH and I do plan on sleeping in the bed if DD1 is ever sick...or scared from thunderstorms....and we'll be in the bed when we read stories and such.

I have seen "bunky boards" online.....which are basically plywood with a sheet wrapped around it that gets laid on top of the bed rails....so I could do that easily with a trip to lowes, but DH (of course :)) thinks that's unnecessary and the mattress will be fine on its own.

Any BTDT??

Are you near an IKEA? They have slatted bed bases, from simple to more fancy.

Looks like they have 16 slats. Maybe just get 6 more from the hardware store and call it good? In our Home Depot, they have bed slats ready to go. At IKEA, they are held in place with a strip of fabric that is stapled at intervals all the way down.
