View Full Version : Bibs that Baby can't pull off

Does anyone know of any bibs that Baby can't pull off? We have ones that velcro in the back and our 12 month old pulls them off. I know some newborn ones just go right over the head but does anyone make these for older babies? Or any other suggestions?
TIA

I would like to know too. We have a couple that are snaps that seem better but they do not have enough coverage for my 11 month old. I'm wondering if it is just a matter of repeatedly putting them back on to remind him that a bib is not optional?

I used to buy the long sleeve Bumkins bibs that tied in the back :)

DS2 hates bibs. I got a SillyBillyz bib with long sleeves that worked fairly well. I put it on him away from the table, and I think he just thought it was a shirt so he didn't try to get it off like he did with obvious bibs. He eventually decided that he didn't want to wear it either, and then I just used some of my old t-shirts as bibs for him. After using those for a while, he decided that he didn't like them either. Then I finally got him to wear a babybjorn bib like DS1 has. He still doesn't like it, but I don't give him a choice. He's a good eater so if he takes off the bib then I take the food away until he lets me put it back on. He understands no bib= no food so he tolerates it.

We have a couple of Silly Billyz and Mum2Mum that won't come off. They have snaps instead of Velcro, and the Mums are bandana style so they soak up tons of drool!

Hmmm, will have to try some of these. We have Bumkins that velcro, and I just gave up and let her go without!

Silly Billyz bibs are amazing. We use the kind with a snap at the neck and no sleeves. DD2 has been using her sister's old bibs I bought like 5 years ago that are still going strong. Which other bibs last 5 years?

These look cute but I think she is strong enough to pull the snaps off.

we had some that were huge and snapped, of course this has been a while since my baby is 5 (eek!) The pocket snapped too so when you washed it off it was flat and once it dried you could snap it back together. Of course I can't find it when I google. Aha-here they are. I used to find them at walmart but don't remember seeing them recently

:yeahthat:

My sister gets those - they kind of look like hand towels with rib-knit neck holes.

We also used Bumkins with sleeves for DD until she decided she was a big girl & could do everything "SELF! SELF!"

These are the best bibs IMO. They have snaps, they can be wiped clean, or machine washed and dried. They are soft, they have a pocket which unsnaps so they lay flat for wiping and drying, I could go on and on. And they last forever. I have about 10 of them and at least 5 of those are from DD1, with the others added with DS2. And I use them for every meal at home with DD2 so they are all between 5-7 years old and still going strong!!

I got mine at Wal-Mart but I'm not sure they still sell them there. Here they are online:

We get something similar from Ikea - http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70179754/. I think they are actually painting smocks, but they work well and are cheap ($5 for 2) and worked for my extremely messy eaters.

Silly Billyz!

Eta: except my long-sleeves Silly Billyz have velcro. Only the sleeveless have snaps, on the ones that I have. Maybe it's changed now?

Kushies. They make them w/short and long sleeves. My DS couldn't pull them off no matter how hard he tried.

DH made one of his own from the template of a Bumkins one that molded/mildewed constantly. He crafted it from some scrap military-grade cordura material and sewed in some industrial-strength velcro. So, in my mind, when I recommend the Bumkins bib with the half sleeves, their velcro may not be as awesome as what we used. DD at 2.5 actually can't take off this one bib with metal snaps, but the coverage isn't great/wide. It was from Carters and said "Birthday Girl" on a pink terry background. It washes so well that we've used it at every birthday part since the first one! Now it's in normal rotation since she likes the color.

I have a long-sleeved with snaps. DS2 would have pulled it off if he could, and he never did so I think they're pretty strong. He did get really upset trying though so I had to just take it off anyway.

We had to stop using bibs when DC learned to pull them off. Snaps, velcro - off they went. Some people have had luck with these http://www.amazon.com/Kiddopotamus-Bibbity-Rinse-Roll-Blue/dp/B000OJFX86/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365898419&sr=8-1&keywords=bibs+kiddopotamus

I love the towel bibs that you pull over their heads. I just throw them in the washing machine to clean them. I buy them at target.

We loved the pull over type bibs. We had some similar to these but they were a bit larger.

Ours were hand me downs so not sure where they originally came from.

When DS started pulling his bibs off, I got these at Walmart. Love them, they provide great coverage and just get thrown in the washing machine.

These are the absolute best! DS will pull off every other style, but the way these fasten means he can't remove it by himself. Bonus points for being super cute, and made of silicone, so a snap to wipe down and clean! They're dishwasher safe, too. People always ask where we bought the bib when DS wears it in a restaurant:
