I have the Bukhara print bedding as shown in the following link, and I would like to get a large area rug to go under the bed. Please note that I don't have a black laquered bed or the animal fur / print accents as shown in the picture! My bed is a dark brown sleigh style bed, and I use a solid deep red coverlet with the paisley print shown in the pillows and a folded duvet at the bottom. I'm having a hard time picking a rug because the bedding pattern is almost like a rug itself, so everything seems too busy. Also, our floors are a dark chocolate brown, so I feel like dark would make everything feel very heavy?

Link?

Maybe a solid cream rug?

CRL, I've thought about solid cream, but afraid it would be too jarring with all the other dark. Guess I can't decide how to meet in the middle!

I'm thinking a deep red like your coverlet, but I'm partial to reds. I know you mentioned that might be too dark, but red on the floor usually does not come across as dark. We have a cranberry-based rug in our dining room, and it doesn't "feel" dark at all.

What else is in the room? Can you bring in lighter colors elsewhere?

Sariana, a mostly red rug maybe even with a subtle pattern would be nice if I can match the reds. There is also a soft light blue in the paisley pattern that might be nice also, but that would be a big contrast from the deep colors, so I'm not as confident in the idea.

A contrasting rug would look great. The blue doesn't show up on my screen though so it's hard to tell how a blue rug would look.

I think a Dhurrie rug would like nice in a neutral or coordinating color.

Something like this:

Or this:

A brown could look nice. This one is called mocha although it looks a little orange-ish on my screen...

I think a large, simple pattern like the trellis ones above would look gray. We have a similar rug is ds1's room, and it looks great with everything.
