Title says it all! I would like to paint DD's room this weekend. She wants a shade of blue, but I want to make sure it's not too 'cold.'. Made that mistake in a bathroom, already. Maybe a blueish grey? Maybe a bluish purple? Only thing is that it needs to be a color I can get at Kelly Moore (or Home Depot/Osh). Its a small room, but gets a lot of light, if that makes a difference.

Also, while I'm asking....can you recommend a shade of blue for DS's room? I think once he sees his sister's room, he'll want his too. Bigger room than DD, also a lot of light.

Thanks!!

This may not be what you are looking for, but maybe they have something similar or can colormatch BM wythe blue or palladian blue?

They are very glow-y.

BM Wedgewood Grey maybe?

I love the House of Turquoise blog!

The Windmill Wings on this slide show is pretty:

I tend to like Pottery Barn colors, and sometimes having a smaller number of choices is better. I'm on my phone, so these links may not go to the right thing. If you google "Pottery Barn Kids Paint Colors" and look at images, there are all of the dot charts from the catalogs.

Paint stores can look up any formula of paint. It won't be 100% accurate, but close enough. Fluorescent bulbs can make blue look cold.

Blue is a cool color so if you want it a little warmer, you will probably need to go toward greenish blue--such as turquoise.

That's what I was thinking. Wasn't sure about going blue/green or blue/grey, though. It's not easy to make a cool color really warm-ish!

We used BM Sweet Bluette in DD's room and I love it! I think it actually is a warmish blue and it changes beautifully with the light. It never feels too cool or at all cold or dreary to me. It just reminds me of a beautiful changing sky. Sometimes there's a little grey or lavender to it, and other times, just a very light, sunny undertone.

I think you have to go blue-green or blue-lavender to make it warmer. Bue-green will have some yellow in it and blue-lavender will have some red in it, both are warm. Blue-grey, unless it is bue-green-grey, seems like the coldest blue to me.

At least that's my totally non-expert thinking.

We have Benjamin Moore Beach Glass in our loft/playroom. It's a soft blue with warm undertones. I love it!

I love House of Turquoise.

Her latest entry features Palladian Blue: http://www.houseofturquoise.com/2013/04/12-oaks-bathroom.html

Also, the HGTV 2013 Smart Home features some beautiful SW blues: http://www.houseofturquoise.com/2013/04/12-oaks-bathroom.html Two of my favs are Watery and Drizzle. The BM Beach Glass I recommended is kind of in between those 2 colors.

We have our living room Silver Half Dollar, which is a lightish blue gray. It's a great neutral color that looks great with everything we put against it.

Britany Blue might be a good option too. both ben moore

Sherwin Williams "Rain" is a very nice blue green, doesn't seem cold to me at all. I have it in a tiny half bath and love it.

I also used Behr's "Prelude" in my kitchen. It feels warm to me (as warm as blue can be).

Definitely go away from blue-grey and more toward blue-greens.

I liked those SW blues as well. Just saw them two days ago....contemplating painting my living room...if I ever get around to it.

I feel like I recommend this all the time, but I love SW interesting aqua. We have it in two rooms now. The BM Wedgewood Gray looks very similar. I think it would be great with pink or yellows.

This is Benjamin Moore Innocence (http://m.benjaminmoore.com/paint-colors/color/innocence). With a better camera the photos might make look more green, but it is still not overly turquoise. These are photos of my master bedroom.

I didn't post these earlier, but thought since others were recommending colors from other paint brands I thought I would add these as well.

I don't seem to have any good ones on my computer, but if you PM me your email address then I'll send you what I have. It's a greyish blue, and we have it in DS2's room as well as a small meeting room. DS1 has a blueish grey in his room, and I much prefer the interesting aqua. I didn't want anything that looked baby blue or anything that had too much green, and this doesn't.
