So far, this week in recap--
-Boston Marathon bombings
-Ricin in letters to Senator and President
-Explosion in Texas
-gun background check bill gets defeated despite public support around 90%
-Marathon bombers discovered/on the run

Tomorrow is 4/20, the anniversary of the Columbine, today is the anniversary of the Oklahoma City federal building bombing, and there's the anniversary of Waco, Tx.

And Friday is just getting started. Any one of these would have been a major news story on it's own for a week, easily, if it had been a slow news week.

Locally, we have some serious flooding including the Air Force Base having to be evacuated and I'm nervous that the national cemetery also appears to be at least partially under water- that is where our daughter is buried.

Three of our schools received a (not very credible) threat- the two Catholic private ones involved cancelled classes today (bad move IMO), the public school still had school.

I know I'm not the only one glad this week is almost over. Prayers to all of the victims and families of those who have been hurt or worse this week.

I agree, it's nuts. We've had weird weather and the ongoing threat of flooding. I don't it's likely to happen at my house (we're on a bit of a hill) but lots of other areas are stil under threat.

Monday there was a threat to many area schools that had been specified to "kill 20 children at 5 different schools". DD goes to a Christian school, so I knew it wasn't likely to be her school, but still...seeing that police car sitting outside was not nearly as comforting as I know it was meant to be.

The only good news here is that all the severe weather that was supposed to happen yesterday didn't.

Don't forget about the flooding and sink holes http://news.msn.com/us/chicago-sinkhole-swallows-3-cars-state-of-emergency-declared?ocdi=ansnews11

And the earthquakes! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/04/16/iran-earthquake-2013_n_3090799.html

Just heard that there was an earthquake in Japan, hopefully not too serious.

And a huge section of Chicago and MI under water.

Nuts.

Didn't take long for the ignorant and angry to come out of the woodwork. So glad the police are taking it seriously.

I was just thinking that last week (or the week before) North Korea was the big news story. That seems so far away at this point.

There's a meme going round FB about North Korea that America doesn't have time right now for their crazy. So true.
