A month ago Dh took DD2 for a couple of hours to practice riding her bike. First time since putting the pedals back on (the balance bike and our kids just don't go together:p). He said it was crazy, he killed his back holding on to her seat the whole time while she was wiggling all over the place. Fast forward two weeks and after seeing DD1 ride her bike on the walk with Shep she demanded to do it to. Our walk is very hilly and I told her she wouldn't be able to do it esp since she still needs someone to hold the bike. Nothing I said got through, the only reply I heard was, "I will try it!" So Mommy knuckles under and holds her bike while holding a leash the entire time. Good thing Shep smartened up after almost getting run over and heeled so nicely for the rest of the walk :tongue5:

This is followed by two afternoons of countless stops and starts in our driveway, punctuated by even more countless, "I will try its!" And now we have:

In a self profile she filled out this week at school, my favorite line is, "I am good at trying hard."

Sometimes not being able to let go of something has its rewards.

AWESOME-- not even the riding, which is great, but the phrase "I am good at trying hard!" What more could you want your child to take pride in!?! She must have a fantastic mom :).

Awww, thanks everybody, you are so nice! :heartbeat:I felt a little funny bragging because 6 seems a little on the later side for learning to ride a two wheeler. I have friends and relatives whose little guys learn to ride at 4, so 6 must seem a little ho hum to them. But my kids aren't terribly athletic, so I'm always so proud when they finally learn this:D
