Listening to books

Is there a way to listen to books on a Nexus 7 for free? I downloaded audible.com but kids books are pricey. I should have been more organized and gone to the library but didn't! DD is having a hydroscan (or is is hydo?) today and has to lie still for at least an hour, so I thought this would be a good idea, but am not very organized

Can you download from your library? My library has tons of audiobooks to check out on-line.

we get audio books from the library all the time-- dd is really getting into them too :) goodluck!
