Register a 3DS XL between 2/14/13 and 4/30/13.
Buy and register either Pokémon Mystery Dungeon or Luigi's Manion game.
Get a choice of download: Mario 3DLand, Professor Layton Miracle Mask, Freakyforms Deluxe, Starfox 64, or Art Academy.

Fortunately, I had not registered DS's 3DS from Christmas, so I did that. He got Luigi for his birthday yesterday. I just downloaded the free Mario in 3D Land for him. Great deal, as that's a $40 game!
