Does anyone have any experience with a low-to-the ground swing for an infant car seat? I saw this model, and am wondering if this is will not be enough for a baby. Most other swings I've seen have some kind of light show or mobile attached, but I wondered if that was too much stimulation when you are trying to get a baby to relax. I like the idea that it is lower to the ground - the baby is likely to fall out, but I wondered if a baby would want to be higher up, closer to peoples' faces?

It is best for baby not to spend too much additional extra time in the carseat besides what is necessary for driving and quick errands. The angle of the head and neck in the carseat is not the best angle for breathing.

There are a lot of other siwngs out there which are super comfortable and safe for baby. I don't think lights or mobiles are necessary in the swing, but you may be happier with a swing that has an actual seat area. A lot of babies also don't like the carseat, but you never know that until the baby actually comes :)

I am very happy with the snugabunny papasan swing, but there a ton of options.

We used the exact one that you have shown for at the sitters. It was given to us free. Now, I will say that it wasn't used a lot - but it worked as a secondary swing.

At home, I used one that I got for $10 at a rummage sale and it was a VERY bare bones model.

we have used the boppy brand low to the ground swing and it was great. no lights or music or mobile. but i agree with pp...i'd skip the carseat part. better for them to be in a regular seat.

Also keep in mind, not all babies like swings. If you can, try to borrow one instead, before you invest in one. In our case, we skipped the swing entirely. Instead, we used the Leachco Podster (http://www.amazon.com/Leachco-Podster-Sling-Style-Infant-Lounger/dp/B003HIXOTQ/) (LOVED this thing for our swaddled newborn!) and the Bjorn Babysitter (http://www.amazon.com/BABYBJORN-BabySitter-Balance-Brown-Beige/dp/B001HOIC8K/) (baby-powered, folds flat for storage, and rated to 29 lbs.).

I thought about getting one of those for DD2 as I needed somewhere for her to sleep because sometimes she only slept in her carseat (and she has a perfectly shape head), but she hated the swing so I passed on it, and for the most part she liked her Fisher Price Infant to Toddler Rocker (http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Fisher-Price-Infant-to-Toddler-Rocker/dp/B002WJQ452/ref=sr_sp-btf_title_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1367531890&sr=8-4&keywords=fisher+price+infant+to+toddler+rocker) so I didn't think I needed something else, and that is super portable as well. A friend of mine had twins and she loved the car seat swing.

My DD slept in a swing till she was 6 mos old and the motor starting wearing out!! Turned out she was a tummy sleeper--she needed to feel the side of her face against something--the side of the swing in this case. It saved my life. DS didn't like his swing at all. sigh. So it's a toss up if they will sleep well in one or not?????
