At DD's daycare they have started working on tracing letters and shapes. She has started asking to help her draw her name, my name, DH's name, etc.

I can't seem to find a good site that has traceable letters to download for her. I'm looking for something that would have 1 letter per page or 2 at most since she needs to be able to make big lines.

Any recommendations? Every site I have tried has small letters to be traced multiple times.

DK has some dry erase books she might like

But they tend to have more than one letter per page.

When our kids were more like 4, we started using some of the HWoT materials. One idea from there is that you can form the letter on a chalkboard, then erase it with a damp sponge, and they trace over where you just erased. You could try doing that with her possibly.

With all 3 kids by around age 3, we would draw a letter on a piece of construction paper. I'd have them "trace" over my writing with glue (and help), and then they'd use tweezers, tongs, etc. to transfer things onto the glue on the paper (lentils, cotton balls, pom poms, whatever). Some kids also like having you tape off a letter on the floor (or chalk on the driveway) and "walking" the letter. I think those things help internalize the shape of the letter when they are still learning (and don't necessarily have the skills to form the letters in the appropriate sequence, etc.)

Maybe it's because I'm cheap, but probably would just make my own with Powerpoint, Word or your editor of choice. You can change the font size to make it as large as you want. You could also grey out the letters to make your DD's pencil/crayon lines more visible. You could make a page with her name and have her trace her name over and over too.

:yeahthat:

We put them in a plastic sleeve and gave DD a dry-erase marker so we could reuse the sheets.
