View Full Version : Bed Rails for Twin Bed?

Can someone recommend their bed rails for a twin bed that they like? We'll be transitioning DD to a twin once Baby #2 is born. I looked at Babies R Us online and the selection (and reviews) were terrible. DD2 isn't due until October but we are moving overseas in July and I need to buy something before we leave.

Thanks!

Would a plain pool noodle tucked under the fitted sheet work? Barring that you might also consider just going without if the bedframe isn't really tall. DS1 has never used rails and rolling out hasn't been a problem.

The problem is I just don't know. She is all over her crib right now, and I would love to just leave her in it, but our new living situation+new baby doesn't really allow for that. We're moving to the middle east and I hear that good baby stuff is hard to come by, so if I don't bring it with me I probably can't find it. It's also kind of difficult to get stuff shipped. I'd hate to get over there and regret not bringing one. I definitely won't be ready to transition her before we move (not to mention that we don't have an extra bed here) so don't really have a good way to test it out.

The pool noodle trick is an interesting thought.

We used this one initially on DD1s bed: http://www.amazon.com/Regalo-Hide-Away-Extra-White/dp/B000H1IYXW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1368535624&sr=8-1&keywords=bed+rail

I think it worked fine on a regular/standard twin mattress with box spring.

We use a pool noodle now because even at 5yo she still has issues...she likes to hang a leg over the edge of the bed and one wrong move and she's onto the floor. Honestly, the pool noodle works great and had I known just how great I wouldn't have gotten the bed rail.

Other things we did when DD1 transitioned to a big bed was start with just the mattress on the floor. Then after a while we put it on the box spring. Then after a while we put it all on the bed frame.

We love the bedbug bumpers. Both boys still use them and we even travel with them.

We loved these, too! My DS was all over his crib and was a major climber. I was afraid to use just a bit of foam, but it worked fine, and the bumpers were easy to take with us when we travelled.

Us too.
My one twin would shift and twirl all over in her sleep and the bed bug bumper was perfect at keeping her in her bed. We also use a pool noodle for DS at my family beach house with great results.
