I just discovered tonight that clothes shopping can be fun. I've hated it my entire life, but tonight...fun! I've reached a size 4 and for me, it makes everything fit well, and so I finally went into Anthro. I've loved them for years but never bought a thing because it didn't fit.

Well, I loved the clothes on as much as I've loved them on the hangers for all of these years! But the prices...ummm, not loving so much. So, can I get Anthropologie style somewhere else for less? Thanks in advance!

I get Anthro stuff pretty cheaply at consignment shops. It's hit or miss though. Sometimes I see obvious knock offs at TJ Maxx or even Kohls.

They do have pretty regular sales. You might try H&M, but I think Anthro's style is unique, it may be hard to match.

They have some similar styles here and it's a little cheaper.

The only problem is that you have to pay for shipping which I hate.

Sometimes Target will surprise you! End of season sales at Anthro, eBay, consignment stores.

You're lucky you have an Anthro store nearby. They have killer sales. When I was in ATL I got an $80 dress for $14 and a $60 top for $39. Both are super cute, although I wasn't impressed with how well the $39 top washed--the navy blue stripes faded noticeably in 2 cold washes.

Also consider some of their items an investment piece. My friend bought a sweater for $228, but she's worn it for 2 years now and still gets compliments wherever she goes in it. It's what I call quirky, bohemian-preppy cute.

Many clothing pieces I have seen knock-offs at TJMaxx. My friend even has seen EXACT household goods (tea cups, aprons, wares) at TJMaxx and Marshalls.

I love Anthro - you can return an item any time (with a receipt or looking up your receipt with an Anthro card) and I love that their clothes are not cookie cutter. Sign up for an Anthro card - it is not a cc but a loyalty program. They will attach all your purchases to your card so you don't need to hold on to your receipt and you will get a coupon in the mail for 15% off a one time purchase during your birthday month.

I also agree to watch their sales. There is only one top that I've watched that didn't go on sale, though some items sell out very quickly especially once they are marked down. Last weekend they had 15% off full price items, they offer PA for 14 days and around the holidays they regularly have 15-30% off things like sweaters, or pants, etc. Patience will pay off :) Even if you pay full price you will probably feel great in whatever you buy from there :)

I agree with PPs to watch their sales.
