We are picking up our boxer girl from the rescue group this weekend! We have to change her name because my niece is a Maddie, too. DH and I like people names for animals and this is our short list. What's your favorite?
Here is a link to her picture and story if you are interested: http://www.secondchanceboxer.org/Dogs2013/Madison030513.html

What a beauty!

I'd go with Maisy simply because it sounds a lot like Maddy and will hopefully be easy enough for her to get used to. Plus, it's cute! :)

DH's first black lab was named Scully after Dana Scully from the X Files. Our current black lab is named Sydney after Sydney Bristow from Alias.

It wasn't until I heard our dog's name being call Sydney Last Name at the vet's office did I regret naming her Sydney because it sounds awesome with our last name and we could have used it for DD2. I had also always wanted to name a dog Sid since I Toy Story after the kid Sid and had thought it was an awesome dog name since.

Roxy, and Dakota are popular dog names in my area so much so that I have a hard time thinking of anything else:shake:.

Can you do something related to your kids? My dog from the age of 11 until I was 26 was named JAS, which was a combo of our first initials.

eta: I voted for Mabel. I also started writing my response before I knew this was a poll. Cricket doesn't fit. Cricket will always be the bug or a mildly irritating character on The Young & The Restless.

I voted Cricket because
- I know a couple of little girls named Maisie
- Mabel reminds me of.... whatever that sitcom was with Helen Hunt and Paul Rieser
- Stella, people will make lame "Steeeelllllllllllla" jokes too often
- Lola makes her sound like a harlot!

I picked Maisy because it sounds the most like Maddie for the dog to recognize. Plus, I have a niece myself called Maisy so it seemed appropriate, lol

Lola would be perfect for her!

She looks like a Lola to me. Plus I'm sure you are going to spoil her rotten and can sing the song from Damn Yankees: Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets.

I like Maisey, my boxer's mom was named Maisey. :)

How about Maggie? I like that as a dog name.

What a gorgeous girl! Boxers are awesome dogs.

Our neighbors have a boxer girl named Layla!

I like Lola and I also like Maisey .... it may work best because it is closer to Maddie. Same start and end sound.

My oldest pointer was named Bailey.

Uh oh. That is a reeeaallyy cute name. I think I have to add it to the list of possibilities. This was supposed to narrow the list! :)

We have a dig named daisy, and had a dig named lily. I love flower names, but my dd insisted our new rescue be coco (first she suggested Elizabeth so I couldn't say no to coco after I said no to elizabethe). I love the name posey tho... Never thought if it before reading this... And will name our next dog that if I can. Great name!!

You want a name that works well with commands. Something that carries. Hard consonants or y sounds

Maisey! And I must say -- if my mom knew your reasoning for re-naming her, she would be commending you....my uncle got a rescue dog years ago...with my name! He didn't change her name, and to this day it bothers my mom that my uncle didn't change the name, so his dog and I have the same name -- and conversations with relatives often go from one of us to the other...."speaking of Lisas, how's your Lisa?" (FTR, I could care less about the same-name thing -- too many other things in the world to worry about to worry about that one!)

We have a Lola. We always sing, "her name was Lola...she was a show dog." My kids think those are the real words because they grew up hearing that.:)

So what does it say about me that my mind goes straight to The Kinks and not Barry Manilow? ;)

I would like the name Belle or Bella. That's what I thought of when I saw your puppy's face, but I don't know why.

Kinks...Manilow...either one works!
