How about items for grilling pizza? There's a good cookbook about it and you could get a cast iron grill pan or a pan like the link below and a pizza peel.

My DH is like yours - loves grilling/tinkering/gadgets.
He is currently obsessed with Americas Test kitchen so this year he'll get the cookbook and membership. He loves the "scientific" aspect of it.

A pizza stone for the grill or the pizza pans PP mentioned were also on my list as possible options.

My DH sounds a lot like y'all's. I ended up getting him a beer making kit. But he would have also loved the grill stuff or cooking lessons.

Not sure if you live near a culinary institute but if so, maybe a GC to take a class?

I don't know how you feel about this, but I LOVE giving "experience" gifts. If your local community college has classes you can sign up for - like cooking classes, or for example, we live close to Philadelphia so there's lots of food and/or beer tours we can sign up for. I do this for DH quite frequently and he's always very happy.

My DH is getting a Logitech keyboard for his iPad from me and a set of personalized collar stays that I got from Etsy from the girls. One says "We love you, daddy" and the other says "Love DD1 & DD2 <3"

Where do you live? You mentioned he loves cricket/football (I assume you mean soccer). If you live in the UK, my DH would love a trip to Lord's Cricket Ground for a test match. Otherwise, I agree with America's Test Kitchen. I love it and my brother who loves all things food/cooking is obsessed with it.

:yeahthat:
I missed this earlier. We own the America's Test Kitchen cookbook http://amzn.com/1933615486

We use it virtually every day. We give it to all of our friends as a gift. We also have a membership online so we can access all recipes.

For those that have the ATKitchen memberships, what is the cost? I can't seem to find a price online. TIA

I think it was about $20 for the year. I think I signed up and then canceled it before I was charged. Then I received a discounted offer via email. I'm sorry as it was several months ago...

Sorry just getting back to this thread. Membership is $29.95 per year or $4.95 a month. The info is on the website FAQs
http://www.americastestkitchen.com/faq/index.php

Psimpson, thanks for sharing your experience - glad to know the cookbook is useful. I do think DH will enjoy it.

I'm looking at this pizza stone and peel set from Costco.

Any other recommendations on a stone and peel?

Daisy13, we are in the Bay Area, too. I just got a livingsocial email today for a $49 3-hr photography class that looked good. Would your DH like something like that? There are so many interesting 'experience' gifts you could find there, and on groupon that you would never think off. How about a kayaking in the Bay trip?
