I'd love some gift ideas for a 7 year old boy. I know from past threads that legos and stomp rockets are popular gifts, but, I don't think they'd suit this particular kid. He is into drawing and video games and making music.

I'd like to get him a craft kit, but the ones for that age all seem too girly. Other ideas?

Look at Klutz and something with Chicken in the name (I'm blanking! we have a book from them n fingerprint art [not the book below] and one for cool pom poms).
some less girly kits/ books:

There were loads of cool options on Amazon (I only got through page 8)- Books-> Children's Craft and Hobby-> Age 6-8

Djeco has wonderful paper kits for making things like robots (http://www.amazon.com/Djeco-Folded-Paper-Urban-Robots/dp/B004P0JI72/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369260685&sr=8-1&keywords=djeco+robots) or animals (http://www.amazon.com/Djeco-Folded-Pretty-Woodland-Animals/dp/B004P0DW60/ref=pd_sim_t_3). Origami kits are always wonderful and 7 is a good age for it. I love the Green Creativity kits (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=bl_sr_toys-and-games?_encoding=UTF8&field-brandtextbin=4M&node=165793011)as well, for both genders.

This origami book has been a hit with boys and girls that age around here:

https://www.spiceboxbooks.com/products-2/8-14-years-old/folded-fun-beginners-origami-kit/

It's about $13 at B&N. I have seen it come and go at Costco and Sam's Club for $10. It's nice because the paper has the folding lines on it.

Did you previously recommended Alex Draw Like a Pro? Does he already have that? I scored one at Barnes n' Noble for 75% off and it was by far the biggest hit of all DD's 7th birthday gifts.

I just bought some sunprint kits as gifts - fun and not girly!

An alternative to a kit would be a nice sketch book and some quality colored pencils and some oil pastels.

Rainbow Loom bracelets are being worn by boys and girls around here. You can buy masculine color bands too.

Ds1 is 7 and he loves: knitting, those melty beads (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Melty-Beads-Animal-Friends/16784431), making paper airplanes and he's interested in learning Origami. He also loved making friendship bracelets so we have a collection of embroiderer thread.
