The kids have today off from school, and at 5:30 this morning I woke up to DD2 coughing and gagging in the bathroom like she was going to be sick. But in the end she wasn't. She went back to sleep and is still sleeping - it's very unusual for her to sleep this late, so I'm pretty convinced she doesn't feel well.

She has an eye doctor appointment in a couple of hours, and I think the office opens shortly.

I should just reschedule, right? They won't charge me a fee for less than 24 hours cancellation for a (potentially) sick kid, right?

DH and I disagree, he thinks she just ate too many strawberries last night and had a bit of a sour stomach and would just keep the appointment. I wasn't home last night - based on the number of strawberries missing from the fridge, I could believe that theory, but I typically err on the "why take the chance and spread germs" side of things.

So I ask you, mighty BBB, WWYD?

Sarah

I would take her to the appointment if it were me. Hope it was the strawberries. :)

If she seems ok when she gets up I would take her.

I don't know...she's up now and still saying her tummy hurts and doesn't want breakfast. She actually was excited to go to the eye doctor (DH, DD1 and I all wear glasses and DD2 can't WAIT until she needs them too) so it's not that she's afraid or anything. I think I'll see if they'll let me reschedule. What's the worst that happens? We stay home, she's not sick, and I've wasted a day off from school? Doesn't sound so bad.

I would take her too. You can always inform the receptionist if you feel you need some space in the waiting room. But honestly, we've been in offices where the kids had all kinds of contagious things and we were fine. DD had scarlet fever and they made us wait in the general waiting room with all the other kids and babies. And she was highly contagious at that point. None of us got it though.

If she's still not feeling well and if you can reschedule the appointment easily, I would probably go ahead and reschedule.

If your eye doctor is like mine and it would be 4 months before you can get another appointment, I would take her.

Ouch - 4 months?!? Our eye doctor is not that popular, I guess - I was able to reschedule for two weeks from now, though it probably helps that I was able to be super flexible with times because her school is out for the summer.

Off to baby my potentially sick/not sick kid who's watching TV on the couch, still refusing breakfast...

Yeah, 4 months. But he's a specialist and the only one in the area who deals with DS's rare eye disorder.

I'm glad you were able to reschule soon. I hope your DD feels better soon.
