Any recommendations? Should I get the one with the photo insert or just the regular one?

I think the ones that you can add a picture to are fun.... but I've also heard of a mom having the characters sign on a index card, then she scanned those along with a picture of her child with the character, and then made it into a book through snapfish. Love that idea!

There are some fantastic DIY tutorials online and i think they come out just as well (if not better) than the ones you can purchase, so if you're at all inclined, I would probably go that way. I am NOT crafty or creative at all, so the prefabbed ones are my preference. I like ones that have a mixture of spaces for pics and non-pics. let me get some examples:

We did this for our trip earlier this month. If you go on DIS boards, there is a thread about it and you can contact someone to email you additional pages she created for more recent characters (Jake & the Pirates, Rapunzel, Sofia, etc). I had it wire bound at Kinkos and it came out great. We read a couple entries every night and DS thinks it's so cool to look at the autographs!

We've always liked this style ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/Disney-Mickey-Mouse-Gang-Autograph-Book-/171039203104?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27d2bb1f20#ht_607wt_904 ) of autograph book for our kids. Small enough to fit in a Ziplock bag (perfect for keeping them dry on rides OR during rain showers) with the pen & can be left open to the next blank sheet when they're put away.

We really like the photo insert kind. We have used them for the last 2 trips. the kids like helping put in the pics after we get home and have them printed and they also really like flipping through the completed books and remembering the trip, reading the characters signatures etc. I meant to try to make one for our last trip but ran out of time and ended up buying them again at Disney at the beginning of our trip. Not sure if you have girls or boys but both the princess and Tinkerbell photo ones are a nice size - fit easily in a bag and have a decent # of pages. They have held up well both in the park and after a couple years at home. A gender neutral or boys version was tougher to come by...we ended up with a photo book that was a little bigger and had less pages. I would have preferred one similar to the princess or Tinkerbell but couldn't find one like that for DS.
