I am looking to replace an old table and chairs from Pier 1. It served us well for 10 years but is now in pretty bad shape.

I had high hopes for Crate and Barrel today--liked the look of their "Valencia" table in the oval shape. But when I went to the store to look at it, it had some scratches on it. The salesperson said I could always use Rustoleum spray paint and re-spray the top in a few years. Do I really want to do that? The up side is that the chairs that go with this table are super comfy. One is a bouncy chair and the stationary chairs are reclined at a nice angle.

I also liked the Alfresco dining table. Reviews are mixed. Some say the faux wood slats hold up great. Others say they stain easily.

Anyone have a table from Crate and Barrel or anything else they really like? I'd ideally like seating for 6 (with the ability to squeeze in a couple more if necessary).

I wanted cast aluminum since I read that it should last the longest (the chairs don't have screws to rust), and I definitely wanted to avoid glass table tops. I bought mine from top grill (http://www.topgrillpatiofurniture.com/) online and didn't have any problems. They wrapped it really well, but we did look over everything upon delivery to see if there were ay obvious issues. The table had a small scratch on top, but we didn't bother doing anything about it yet (we've had it about 3 years now and it looks the same as when we got it). They run sales all of the time so don't feel too pressured when you see that they're having a 24hr sale. I'd like to get cushions for ours eventually, but we just don't use it enough to warrant that right now.

eta: I have the scroll pattern set with a 60" round table and 6 regular (non swivel) chairs. We've easily seated 6 adults and 3 kids at it.
