I need to pre make a bunch of salads (like 5) and put them in my fridge so I eat them. I currently have 2 large pyrex containers BUT I use them for other stuff. I'd love it if they were stackable for storage and not made of plastic (I KNOW this is crazy -- but that is why I am posting to your experts!).
TIA

I use smaller pyrex bowls for taking salad to work. I aim to keep them upright but they very rarely leak anyway. I think I use the 4-6 cup size...not sure?

I use the lunchbots leakproof containers in medium. I have four of them. The bottom is stainless steel but the lids are plastic. They don't look that big but the hold a HUGE amount.

We have this set (http://www.amazon.com/Pyrex-6022369-Storage-14-Piece-Round/dp/B0000CFTB0) of Pyrex (also some rectangular ones) and I bring things like soup to work in them. I do try to avoid them tipping, but haven't really had a problem with leaks.

Yes! Google Mason Jar salads - such a cool idea. I've seen it on FB and Pinterest and keep meaning to try it.

Costco has a set of square Pyrex dishes with Snapware lids. I don't remember how many of each size. My husband dragged me away as the Pyrex cabinet is overflowing.

We have been doing this. It works great and they last really well.

Assembly:

Salad dressing
Tomatoes
Peppers
Cucumbers
Meat or quinoa
Lettuce

This way the dressing does not make the Lettuce slimy. Dump out on a plate and it is in the right order!

I got the wide mouth pint and a half jars and they are a good size and there is no lip at the neck for dressing to get stuck on.

Yes, mason jars work great! You probably want the quart size, get the widemouthed ones.

I love the mason jar idea. DH takes a salad to work everyday and I know it's a PITA to make it daily. I'm going to try this.

Wide mouth mason jars. It really seems like the salad stays crisper in the Jason jars. I tend to make meal size salads so I use quart jars. DH just wants a side salad so a pint is perfect for him.

What a great idea. How do you keep the jars cold if taking them to work? Insulated bag with cold pack? Dh sometimes eats big salads at work.

I tried the mason jars but it was hard to distribute the dressing. I like the snaplock containers - they often have them at TJ Maxx for half retail.

ok I think for the $ the wide mouth jars are a great idea. Plus they will work well in the fridge. I am not excited that I have to dirty ANOTHER plate to eat it on but a small price :) I also dress the salad when I eat it so dressing isnt an issue.
THANKS!

I do the make-ahead mason jar salads, too, complete with dressing. I've done as far as two days ahead so far, and they come out great!
