Is $40 a good price for a used Mini kick scooter?

Someone I know is selling their kids' used Mini kick scooter for $40. It looks worn, but it works fine. DD2 liked riding it. Is that a good price? I was surprised they were asking so much for a used scooter, and would not feel comfortable haggling - either I buy it, or leave it. Are there new deals on the scooter that bring it down to $50ish, like with the Strider or Skuut bikes? Or is this one of those products that doesn't go on sale new? And is it the best first scooter for that age group (3)?Let me know! Thanks!

I paid over $100 for our maxi kick scooter. Will your child get a lot of use from a mini before converting to maxi?

Doesn't seem like a great price. I paid $52 shipped for a new Mini from Zulily in 2011. DS is almost 5 and still riding it.

There's a green Mini on KickboardUSA's clearance page right now for $59.

Great scooter for that age, but they sell for $20-25 used around here.

I wouldn't pay that much for a used one, unless it is in great condition. The deck on our board cracked after a couple of years (I live in a sunny climate and it was left outdoors), I believe it was $20 to replace. So for a used mini to be that price, I would want to be in great condition. I would pay that for a maxi in good condition.

Thanks all! I could let him know if it doesn't sell for $40, we'd pay $30 for it. I had been thinking $20-25 originally.

Yes, I got DS2's during this deal and held on to it for almost a year till he was 3. I wouldn't pay $40 for a used one, especially if it looked worn. Maybe if it was still new looking. DS's is a year old and still looks brand new.

ETA: I just checked my Craigslist and they have two used ones listed for $40 each, but they are both new looking.

There was one on my craigslist for $12. Believe it or not, it kept getting re-listed! I kept wanting to buy it but it would have been a 40 minute ride for pick-up. Still probably would have if we hadn't had so much other junk going on.
