How do you wash bath rugs, kitchen rugs?

I wash them in cold water and leave them to hang dry -- and inevitably they always have a ton of lint and small fuzz balls everywhere, so it takes me almost 30 minutes just to remove all that from the rugs. Not worth my time!

Am I doing something wrong?

I just wash in cold and throw in the dryer on low.
