Can you recommend a Nerf gun that a new 5 year old can fire? I know DS2 would love these, but I think many are too difficult for him to shoot.

Ill look when I get home. Ds2 seems to be able to work all the small ones though.

Would one of these be a good choice?

Thank you. The older kids never had an interest, but I am sure he will love it!

I think the ones with the green discs are easier to load. Both my boys (4&6) like the vortex proton ($10 at Target).

I looked at that one on Amazon and a lot of people say the discs hurt when hit with them. Do your boys find this or are they okay with it?

DS and DF love playing with the Nerf guns that have the darts with the suction cups on the end. They shoot them at the wall or door. We have 2-3 different colors of darts and they play games to see who can get the most to stick.

I highly suggest that you get some extra darts.

Different colors would be great! I wonder if I can get them at Target?

My kids (4&6) have never complained about the discs hurting, and I don't think they hurt. The material of the discs is very soft, but they do shoot with a lot of force. We did buy the maverick a few years ago, and the problem ds had was you have to line the barrel up when you push it back in. I am sure he could do it now, but when we bought it I always had to load it for him. I agree with the pps to get extra darts or discs.

Amazon has orange Nerf darts http://www.amazon.com/Nerf-N-Strike-Suction-Darts-36-Pack/dp/B00284C4FK/ref=pd_rhf_gw_s_cp_9_J1FA?ie=UTF8&refRID=1QN56K8H2FYQARG2C8T9

and Buzz Bee brand yellow darts http://www.amazon.com/BuzzBee-Ammo-Case-Suction-Darts/dp/B002L3K3MO/ref=sr_1_11?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1373462926&sr=1-11&keywords=nerf+darts+suction

we have both and they are pretty much exactly the same.

I asked the boys and they said the discs don't hurt. They usually prefer the darts though bc they stick to things.
