This is what we do, though, to help prevent full infestations.
- In the winter, wash and dry all our hats on hot once a week.
- We do a Terminator comb through once a week. I picked that tip up from someone on here, I think. I just go through once and focus a bit on the nape.
- We wash and dry the sheet and stuffed animal for preschool on hot over the weekend.
- Elementary does not send home notices, but preschool does. When we get one that someone has lice, we'll do a thorough comb through on our preschooler that night and, if nothing, on both kids over the weekend. We will also use a spray with peppermint oil during this time, though I don't really know how effective it is.
- I decline any hair activities during camps / before or after care that involve using combs or brushes.
This isn't foolproof, though, as we got a call a few months ago that our preschooler had a nit in her hair.
