I have a bookshelf in my new class, but no desk. Any ideas on what I can use (containers, boxes w/lids (http://www.dollartree.com/Plastic-Storage-Boxes-with-Lids/p296342/index.pro), drawer bins (http://www.sterilite.com/SelectProduct.html?id=628&ProductCategory=186&section=1) etc.) that can hold all of my desk supplies, but placed on the bookshelf.

Any ideas, please let me know!

thanks

Container store multi purpose bins for "storage"

Can you bring in a small, locking file cabinet?

This thing is fabulous (and much cheaper in store, more like $29?)

And definitely multipurpose bins! They don't work with hanging file folders though, FYI. I put regular folders in them.

I saw small, handled, craft storage fabric containers at Michaels the other day (like this: http://michaels.shoplocal.com/michaels/default.aspx?action=entryflash&adref=WeeklyAdLink&storeref=1055) (<-- lower left hand corner of the ad page)

You could also do something like this:

Do you have a container store nearby? If you do, I'd bring in a few of each kind of thing you need to organize and just start trying things out all over the store - not just the office supply section, make sure to check the multi purpose bins, the shoe boxes and various kitchen stuff. This has worked really well for me in the past since I'm not the best at visualing storage. Make sure to measure the size esp depth of your shelves as well.
