I am heading to a wedding this weekend and can't decide what to wear.

The wedding will have an afternoon ceremony in a Catholic church, followed by a late-afternoon reception at a hotel on the beach.

I have narrowed down my options to this dress (I've had it a couple of years...hence the ebay link rather than one to Ann Taylor)

Or this skirt

with this top

Of course I will need some sort of shrug or cardigan for the church.

I am kind of leaning toward the striped skirt and sequined top, as it feels more summery and a little more unique than the basic LBD.

I will probably wear red shoes with either.

I like the skirt, and the top, but not together. I think two flowy things together aren't flattering. I'd wear the skirt with a more fitted top.

LBD. Agree with pp- too flowy. Plus, to me, the skirt seems too casual. And I think I'd avoid wearing white or cream to a wedding- let the bride lay claim to that color alone.

The sequined top is actually an older version of the one pictured, and is more fitted, not flowy at all...and the skirt has a bit of a sheen to it (not evident in the picture) which seems to make it a bit dressier...but maybe it is too much off-white for a wedding.

I always find afternoon weddings the hardest to dress for. Evening wear doesn't really seem appropriate at four pm, and likely the sun will just be going down when the reception ends. On the other hand, most of my "daytime" dresses, don't seem dressy enough.

I like the dress. That's what I would wear. Maybe with awesome flat sandals?

Definitely the dress. I don't think skirts are dressy enough for a wedding

Well after a trip to the mall (to return something to the Loft store a few shops down) I ended up buying option#3...

...which felt more festive, and daytime-appropriate, than the LBD. I don't normally go for wild prints, but this dress was really cute on. I am planning to wear it with flat gold sandals.
