Although we use very little plastic, we still use some.

I hope you don't mind, but I wanted to post this one on sublingual absorption of BPA. DH's C&EN (chem trade publication) had a piece on this recently. It seems like many of the past studies on safety and absorption have bypassed the sublingual absorption route.

I didn't see it mentioned but this also brings to mind the debate about sealant safety, and now I am wondering about the methodology on those studies.

Thanks for posting. The sealant issue is of big concern to me . . . I go out of my way, often at great expense, to avoid plastic but my child could have either bpa or another estrogen mimicker/endocrine disrupter in his mouth?

Yeah, I'm not totally opposed to doing them. However, our otherwise awesome dentist gets frustrated that we won't. My DS1 had one cavity as a toddler and has been okay since then. So far the other two kids have been okay. I don't think they are particularly high risk, although I get that the point is prevention. However, with my family tendencies toward insulin resistance and so forth, I don't think for us it is an urgent need. I would re-evaluate if they had issues with cavities and take it from there. Again, totally realize that the point is to prevent the cavities in the first place, but for my particular set of genes, I am not convinced we need to go there, or that the benefit is that overwhelming vs. potential risks to my kids.
