DD has to keep a spare pair of tennis shoes in her cubby and she has outgrown last year's pair. She only used them once so I really don't want to spend much on a new pair of backup shoes.

We've bought second hand, gently used for the shoes that stay at school and never get worn.
Otherwise, our Target had converse and other gym style shoes for $7.

I have gotten very cheap shoes at either Dollar General or Family Dollar (I get them confused) - I think they were regularly $7, but on clearance for $3.50. For shoes that may not get much wear, I'd buy them again.

Payless has great choices.

I'm too cheap to buy a pladtic pair from Payless or Wally World that she wont ever "wear". So what I did for DD1 and 2 is hit Ross, Marshall's, the Rack etc and he a good pair of leather sneaks (SR..geox) a 1/2 to 1 size up and then when they didn't use hem I had a new pair for later.
