I started this (http://windsorpeak.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?452442-For-fun-one-killer-dress!) thread in January. I'll need the dress for October and now I know what size to look for...

EIGHT!! I was wearing a 14/16 dress size in December! I'm 20 pounds away from the arbitrary goal weight I'd set in January when I first posted this, but weightlifting has made me realize I don't have to pay attention to the number on the scale. Only the fit of the clothing matters! :)

I tried on several dresses this weekend, but none were quite right. I'm leaning toward a sheath style, since I've never been able to wear those before. Budget is still open; I'm looking at dream dresses now, LOL!

Thank you!! It's unreal to even be posting this! And unreal to grab a dress that I think I'd never fit into... and have it fit. I was in tears in the dressing room, but a different kind of tears than ever before, LOL.

I'm hoping to go out to dinner in Boston for our anniversary, so it will be a little chilly and I'd need a dress that looks good with a jacket or sweater. Unless I find a long-sleeved dress.

Congratulations! I too also agree that working out with weights are the key.

It takes a really bad horizontally taken photo of me to make me feel and look like I weigh what I weigh because I am quite muscular to begin with and I work out with weights most days that I go to the gym. Even if I only lose the absolute minimum of 25 lbs I want to lose because of my muscular body shape I probably won't be able to go much smaller than a size 10 or 12, which is currently only one or two sizes smaller than what I wear now (depending on who makes the brand of cloths). My mom for as long as I can remember has always told me it isn't about the size, but how the clothes fit.

Hopefully in a few months to a year when I am shopping for dresses for my brother's wedding I will be in your shoes as well.

Thanks!

Annie -- I thought it was a pipe dream that I'd fit into an 8, because of the way my body is. I was happy to reach a 10 and stay at my current weight. I think the 8's I've tried on have some serious vanity sizing going on, because I still can't fit into Gap or AT size 8. But it was an 8 across several other brands, but they might ALL be vanity-sized! I don't really want to be any smaller-looking than what I am right now, though I'm continuing with the weight training and will probably get trimmer and tighter, though not weigh any less. I look down at my body and certainly don't feel small! It's like the pants and dresses are magic or something, LOL. Everyone around me is already telling me not to lose any more weight. I agree! I just want more obvious muscles. ;) I keep thinking about those "plus-sized" models that are a size 8 or 10. That's where I am right now. I think I just look healthy with some curves, not thin. My waist bulges don't bother me anymore though they are still there. AND CONGRATS on your weight loss!!

Awesome!!! Yes, I agree, makes more sense as to how you feel than focusing on any number whether weight or size of clothing!

Congratulations! And thanks for the inspiration.

I've been working out for 2 months and while the scale has only gone down 5 lbs, I'm thrilled at how my clothes are fitting. I measured my waist and I have lost 2 inches (of course my hips and thighs are the same, it's like they are made of cement...jiggly cement!). It is a great feeling.

Fancy sexy dress, money no object? The Herve Leger bandage dresses are crazy flattering even with some residual rolls. I have a sedate platinum colored one I bought in Vegas and wore recently to my reunion despite still having 10 lbs baby weight on. Found mine half off. Nordstrom carries on occasion

Thanks, everyone!

I'm going to check NR for a Herve Leger dress, because that's the only way I'd be able to get one, LOL. I certainly won't look like the hawt mama in that other thread, though!!

Don't forget to try "nordstromrack.com".

And did you know they can ship from a different NR store to you? They do charge shipping. Once I found shoes in the wrong size at my NR and was able to find another NR that was should the correct size to me.

I asked my husband to look at some dresses on the Nordstrom site, just to get an idea of what he likes. There are two semi-formal dresses I've worn in the past that re now too big and no longer my style, but he always references those. I wanted an updated recommendation from him because I'm trying to branch out from my old safe styles. He has trouble envisioning anything on me, though, even if I'm there in person and a dress is on a hanger. He said we should get a babysitter closer to our anniversary and go to Nordstrom for the day and have me try on lots of dresses, have lunch and/or dinner out, and make it a date. I love that idea!! Usually he rolls his eyes if I "make" him go shopping with me.

There's a Rack right across the street from Nordstrom, so I'm sure I'll find something in one of those two! Also a TJMaxx with a Runway section.

And the final update! Today is my anniversary. We didn't end up shopping together, but this is the dress I fell in love with:
