Accessorizing deep purple dress for family photo session!

Hi all! I'm planning outfits for our family photo session this year and need help with accessories. We decided to do a navy, purple, and gray color scheme and we do dressy family photos (DH will be in a long-sleeved dress shirt like last year, girls in "party dresses" and me in a dress with heels/fancy shoes). I've got a purple sheath dress already that I love, but I usually wear it at work events so I'm trying to figure out how to accessorize it so it doesn't scream "office" or "bridesmaid."

It looks similar to this, as it has a built-in belt at my waistline, but it's not gathered at the neckline. It has a simple boatneck neckline. It's also a medium weight wool-type material, so not as clingy as jersey.

I've been debating a pair of nude heels, but I would never wear them again. I also thought about simple black slingbacks and maybe adding a black belt (a la Michelle Obama in her famous purple dress/black belt outfit, except I wouldn't wear the pearls!).

I found this outfit on Pinterest and like how it incorporates navy, too:

DD1's dress isn't on-line (bought from Nordstrom Rack) but it's a simple navy tank dress with a belt/flower accent similar to this but with a taffeta overlay that has a subtle pattern of navy polka dots on it:

I love the idea of a floral necklace to echo the flowers on your DD's grey dress. Something like these:

I would do pewter belt and pewter pumps to match the charcoal dress. The navy blazer in the outfit you posted would work as well. Have fun at the photos!

Oh fun! What great suggestions, goldenpig. I never would have thought of a floral necklace but that does tie in nicely. Pewter shoes and belt sound so much better than black-- the look is a bit too dramatic for a daytime photo, I think!

I'm still figuring out the girls' accessories, too. Maybe a pewter hair clip/floral headband for DD1 (I already have pewter flats for her) to contrast her dark navy blue dress. I'm also searching for DD2 since the gray dress needs a pop of color. Maybe purple striped tights?
