My doctor wants me have a colonoscopy because of persistant tummy trouble. I've been trying to get past other issues with my anxiety and trying to wean DS (utter failure on that front). just a ton going on. Anyway, I'm having this constant rectal pressure and a very mild dull ache in that area. It's an odd feeling....but one I immediately associate with AF, because I notice the feeling briefly before I start my period every month. But it's not from that obviously because it has been a lot more frequent

I have had hemmoroids and probably still do. I am wondering if I am chronically constipated. But the pressure and dull ache are making me anxious (big surprise) and googling comes up with many explainations one of which is of course cancer.

Any ideas on this? should I call my regular doctor, ask for a referal to a gastro or try something like miralax to see if that helps? Thanks for any advice.

Could it be fibroids? For some reason, I'm thinking that I read something similar about fibroids causing pain in that general area as well (or maybe it was a friend who told me...). I'd investigate that if you associate it with your period. Maybe a trip to the OBGYN would be helpful.

And:grouphug:, I totally understand about the anxiety.

thank you Christina. I didn't realize fibroids could cause this and yes the symptoms look as if it is very possible. So maybe my OB is a better place to start.

Is this a new pain or one you have had for a while? Last time I had that kind of feeling it ended up being an ectopic pregnancy, and I had a lot of internal bleeding that was putting pressure on my organs. I had just finished nursing and had a period about a week earlier so it was bizarre. Anyway, I would get an ultrasound if there is any remote chance you could be pregnant.

Pelvic floor dysfunction can cause the symptoms you described too. I would probably start with my regular doctor. She might be able to rule some things out for you before going to a specialist. I hope you get answers soon and feel better.

I know endometriosis as a probability was the same answer I gave when you were having the intercourse pain, but bowel and intentional issues are also symptoms, although I don’t know if what you are describing fits. Or like a pp said, pelvic floor dysfunction and ruling out ectopic (which my sister had and which sounds similar, but I think it ruptured within 2 days of her first feeling pressure.) I really think some the issues you are having could be related so I would think a GYN would be the best place to start and go over all the problems, periods, pain you are having - a full list in case they are related - before going to a specialist.

My only other thought is: didn’t you have your ovaries readjusted somehow? Maybe that adjustment did something.

Yes...I forgot about Endometriosis. That's definitely a possibility.

Thanks guys. Wow...there really are a lot of possibilities. I called my OBGYN and they sent me back to GP who is going to refer me to the gastrointerologist. So sounds like I won't be able to put off the colonscopy much longer. Boooo....not too excited about that. Plus I am kind of hoping it is endometriosis because that would answer so many questions for me!
