This year I have a lot of lag time between picking up my 3.5 yr old from preschool and my 7.5 yr old from 2nd grade every MWF - both in the mornings and in the afternoons. It's about 30 minutes in the morning, and about 45 minutes in the afternoon. I have a DVD system in my car, and I have tons of regular movies (Disney, Pixar, Tom & Jerry, etc) that she watches. And I have the preschool pre 4 pack videos (http://www.amazon.com/Preschool-Prep-Pack-Letters-Numbers/dp/B001ICUVPS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1379026788&sr=8-4&keywords=preschool+dvds)that my 3 yr old loves that go over the colors, shapes, numbers and letters.

What other educational videos are out there that I can get for her during these lag times? Or suggestions for some good audio books that have an actual book to follow along?

we can get great audio books at the library-- maybe check into that? i also really like the scholastic set that is based on books-- they are really well done and there are so many stories. and they can really be tailored to the amount of time you have.

Schoolhouse rock is pretty good, in part because it's songs, so they are short and several will fill up the 30 or 45 minutes (and you won't have to stop in the middle of a big movie) some of it is a little old, but it's so darned catchy. My kiddo loved it at 4.

Leapfrog videos (some are better than others), but DS loved Letter Factory, Talking Words Factory, Lets Go to School, Numbers Ahoy and Math Adventures to the Moon. He also enjoys Juno Jr "Welcome to Harmony Springs" and "Juno's Rhythm Adventure" and the Whistlefritz Spanish DVDs.

Leapfrog videos. And I second the Scholastic Treasuries http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_15?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=scholastic+treasury&sprefix=scholastic+trea%2Caps%2C218&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Ascholastic+treasury We get all our audio book read alongs at the library as well but there are also some available in the scholastic flyers. And oh-yes! Love School House Rock!

WE like the "Signing Time", but they're a little short for your purpose.. We also watch "dino Train" I think it's called, from PBS.

:yeahthat: to the Leap Frog DVDs. My older kids still like watching them, which is great bc DD2 still needs them. :)

Our Costco had some Leap Frog DVDs recently. We've also checked them out from the library.

They Might Be Giants Here Comes Science would be enjoyed by both your older and your younger. We recommended this to a family with an 8yo boy and he glued himself to the TV for the whole DVD. Our girls love it and sing along. Heck, even us adults love the songs. Be warned though that they do touch on evolution so if your belief system is different, you may want to pass.

Veggie Tales
Play With Me Sesame, not sure if this available on DVD or not, but we watch it using on demand and it is great because it is just enough Sesame Street an no Elmo's World segment.
Wishbone, this is a early to mid 90s PBS series and it is probably geared more towards the 5-7 set, but my Dd2 likes the little dog. No idea if it is on DVD or not though.
Old School Sesame Street.
