I have been concerned about ultra-sensitive DS's entry into middle school next year. Yesterday, we were at a playground and I saw firsthand his reaction to some bullying. His reaction was the exact opposite of what we've tried to teach him for years. I really want to him to be prepared, as well as myself and DH, for what middle school possibly holds. I have no doubt that bullying as well as homework stressors, etc will be a part of it. Can anyone recommend any books, websites, etc that have helped prepare for bullying and/or middle school? TIA.

I spoke with his current school's guidance counselor today. She is going to look into some resources for me as well. She is going into 5th grade classrooms next week to discuss bullying. She is also going to talk with DS.

This might be a duplicate, but I heard about this book here "The Bully, the Bullied and the Bystander" http://www.amazon.com/Bully-Bullied-Bystander-Preschool-HighSchool-How/dp/0061744603. I think egolber read it, so you could PM her.

This reviewer on amazon has loads of good reviews for different issues and ages. They also have a blog. It's a great resource IMO.

Check out the Chinaberry.com book selection- pretty sure they have some books on bullying. I haven't bought books through them on that specific topic, but every single book I've bought from their catalogue on different parenting issues has been terrific and helpful. The editors are very selective.
