Is there such a thing? Every brand of insulated food containers look like jars. I'm in need of a square or circular, actually a flat shape and not a jar. DD takes rice for lunch, I usually mix the rice with a meat and vege curry type mixture. DD mentioned that she prefer white rice and the mixture to be on the side but not in a separate container. To do this I need a flat container that'll retain the heat. Thermos type jars are not wide enough.

Does such a thing exist?

If I use a planetbox and she carry it in a insulated LE lunch bag would it still be warm till noon?

TIA

I've never seen a square thermos container. Might have something to do with the science behind how they work...

Vacuum container with separate layers:

I would probably send the rice in a flat container and the curry in a thermos. She can pour the hot curry beside the rice and warm it up that way.

I don't think a Planetbox would stay hot, but you could experiment at home.

Never seen a square container. Why not just put the rice in the bottom of the thermos and the curry on top? Then she can mix it together when she's ready to eat. My kids will take rice and dal or chicken curry and I don't mix it for them ahead of time, I just put the dal on top of the rice.

A few years ago I bought a lunch box from
Costco that came with a hot pack. If you buy something like that you can use any container. http://www.reuseit.com/cold-packs/cryopak-cryopak-reusable-ice-heat-pack-55-x-55.htm You can buy a divided style lunch box if you need to keep cold items separate. Something like this but in a style your DC likes. http://www.thermos.com/products/radiance-dual-lunch-kit-midnight-blue.aspx

I'm going to try this. My concern is that she'll just pick and eat the meat and not the rice. I don't think there's enough room for her to mix them. This is the container we have for her. I going to give it a shot and see what she brings home.
