My flat iron just died. I can't get it to turn on. Can anyone recommend a decent cheap one? The highest I want to spend is around $50. Variable temperature control is a must.

Thanks!

Thanks! I got this one from amazon for $40 in 2011. Love it.

I have an FHI iron I bought in 2005 for $40 and it works okay on short hair, but if you have long thick or curly hair I would recommend a HAI or a Chi as those will most likely work a little bit better (mine cools off really quickly). My sister who for most of her adult life has had hair her mid back has had a HAI for quite sometime and really likes it, I think that one and the Chi are closer to $70, but they are great quality tools. I have a Bablyliss hair dryer and love it so I might look at the one that Arivecchi rec. . Hot Tools is usually a mid range brand sold in a lot of beauty supply stores.

I have a Chi that I use infrequently. I've heard good things about BaByliss.
