View Full Version : Favorite brown riding boots?

I've attempted to find brown riding boots for several years and haven't been happy enough with any of them to commit.

Any favorites out there? My feet are finicky (and on the wider side). I don't mind paying a higher price for them, just want something that is classic, comfortable, and quality.

I tried these at Nordstrom last week and they were actually pretty good, but I have no idea if they'd be comfortable in the long term?

If you really want to splurge and consider this an investment piece, I'd recommend these:

Thanks for that. I had actually looked at those, remembering your love for Ferragamos. My only concern is that clunkier heel. Doesn't it seem a bit "heavy" or trendy?

Okay, I'm still looking and thought I'd bump this thread. After trying a few pairs, I think I'd rather something in a cognac color. Anyone else have favorites for this year?

This is the image I keep coming back to. I really like some if these.

I've also been on the hunt the last couple of years, and a month or so ago I bought these boots from Amazon. They're actually a lighter, more cognac-color in real life, and they're very comfortable. I also have finicky feet, with plantar fasciitis in one heel and bunions on both feet, so I need slightly wider shoes. I'm a Clarks fan because they work well for me & my feet (my tall black boots are also from Clarks, as well as a couple of Privos ballet flats & a couple of dressier pairs of shoes).

Last year (or maybe the year before) I also tried a pair of Frye Melissa boots (in brown) from that great Amazon sale, but sent them back, as they felt much too stiff (I'm just not used to that fit, but loved the look). I believe there might be some Amazon deals on them if you go look in the Bargains section.
Other boots that I tried, and liked, in the last couple of years, were Keen Bern and Merrell (tried both at REI); they just weren't quite 'classic riding boot' enough for me, and looked more outdoorsy than I wanted (especially for wearing with skirts/ dresses).

Good luck in your search!

My Nordstrom stylist emailed me these, which I think are gorgeous, but sadly, my feet do not like Tory Burch (I tried a pair of their boots last year and they were the most painful things I've ever tried on, I think). So I'd love something in this kind of style and color, and I just Can.Not find anything. This is the second year I've been looking! I'm ready to give up altogether, lol!

Someone mentioned Cole Haan, which I've never worn. I have a wider toe box, but not officially "wide". These are on sale at Amazon. Any thoughts? In Sequoia? After current discount, they would be only $258.

I have the Frye Dorado (in brown and black) and absolutely love then. Have you tried those yet?

Those look cute, but are they pull-ons? I was kind of wanting zippered boots to make it easier to get on and off.

Have you tried these?

I have the Frye Jane 14L and LOVE them in the Redwood color, but they are pull on, not zip. This pair has the zip and the cognac color (called Brown Antique in this style) you like :) I would say I have wider feet and have been very happy with my Fryes

Check out these reviews. You could order from zappos and return them if you are not convinced. I think the heel is perfect.

Yes, they are pull on. They aren't bad in terms of getting off and on. I have worn them while traveling a few times and had to take them off and on for security - it's not been an issue.

These are a great everyday boot. I have brown. Check out Q&A section for info on wide width.
